Karl is working on “Austempered Ductile Iron (ADI) for Railroad Wheels“ , funded by NURail. His Ph.D. thesis concentrated on the ADI properties, investigating the potential effects of on-tread braking on the microstructure and properties of ADI railroad wheels.
